God is still using us!

A lot has been happening since we were in the DR in June. More and more people are interested in what is going on and what we will be doing next. First, we are in the early stages of planning a fact finding trip to build that bridge. I hope to have a group going down the latter part of the year with plans to get that thing built in early 2010.

We are most excited about a young girl from the burn unit in the hospital we visited in Santo Domingo. One of the ladies from our church, Rachel, really had a burden for a girl named Kiara who had severe burns on most of her body from a lamp that fell into her bed while she was sleeping. Rachel visited with her while our team was there and then returned to visit a few days later on Kiara's birthday. To say she was moved by Kiara's needs would be an understatement.
During her time with Kiara she felt this overwhelming desire to do more. Discussions began about seeing if we could get Kiara to Shriners Hospital here in the states. Well to make a long story short many people came into play and many obstacles were crossed and Kiara is in Boston, MA where she is receiving the care she could not get in the DR.

Thanks to Rachel's passion and her listening to the Spirit a little girl has a much brighter future. It just goes to show how God can use us in extraordinary ways when we make ourselves available to him.

If you would like to help with some of Kiara's needs please go to www.projectchild.org . There you can make a donation in Kiara's name.
